Myths, Magic, & Lore:
Sapphires, like rubies, are associated with royalty. Sapphires attract divine favor, wealth, and longevity. Jyotish astrology says that sapphire is one of the fastest acting gemstones - if it is suitable for you, you will see effects within 3 hours, days, or weeks. However, if it is not suitable for you, you will have nightmares or accidents, so always give sapphires a trial period before committing to wear them.

On the left is an example of a very high quality 10.70 ct. GIA certified natural, unheated sapphire found on Amazon. It costs around $120,000 (yep, that's a 6 digit price).
For people who don't have money to burn, there is the option of buying several smaller sapphires of the same quality or buying a secondary stone like lapis lazuli in very fine quality.
And of course, Amazon is not the only place to buy gems, but it gives a good idea of what kinds of GIA certified gems are for sale in high end stores. You will find better deals buying direct from gem cutters overseas through eBay or their own websites. There is a big Gem Fair held twice a year in Bangkok, Thailand.
For those inclined to get the very best, Gemisphere offers therapeutic grade sapphire necklaces at 4 digit prices.
